Retreat for healing the hearts of those who grieve the loss of a loved one, located at the Shalom Spirituality Center, 1001 Davis Street, Dubuque, Iowa.

A Vision Board workshop will be held at 7:30 pm. Introduced by Heal Your Grief coordinator Mary Potter Kenyon, the activity will be facilitated by Saturday’s keynote speaker, Mitch Carmody and TOPPS artist Steve Potter. A vision board is a tool that can empower you to visualize your direction in life. What do you want your future life to look like? What would your loved one want for you? Using bulletin boards, magazines, inspirational messages, and Bible quotes, attendees will create a vision board for their wall. All materials provided. If you’d like to include a photo of your loved one on the board, bring it with you. Cost: (includes all materials) $18

9:30-10:30 Mitch Carmody Proactive Grieving, Resiliencey in Grief

10:30-11:30 Expressive Writing for Healing with Mary Potter Kenyon  OR  Grief and the Marriage Relationship with Terry and Patti Cullen

12:00-1:15 break for lunch, optional quiet time in the library with adult inspirational coloring books, colored pencils, music. Opportunity to purchase our speaker’s books.

1:15-2:30Rock painting and discussion with Jeannie Ewing Art therapy for healing. Paint a rock with your loved one’s name or an inspirational word or image. As you paint, hear some of Jeannie’s story of grieving with the precarious health of her daughter who was born with a rare genetic disorder that caused her bones to prematurely fuse together.

2:30–3:30-Roundtable discussions  Meet privately with others who have experienced similar losses, with guided facilitated discussion.

3:30-4:30 Whispers of Love with Mitch Carmody
